Bolkiah Mosque, named after Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah who, according to MindaNews funded 53% of its construction cost. It is so far the largest house of worship in the Philippines. From our vantage point, we counted 4 towering minarets and 11 domes. The Mosque is approximately half a hectare in size and is seated on a 5-hectare property beside Tamontaka River and the Moro Gulf. It is about 8-10 minute drive from the City of Cotabato, the seat of power of Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao in Southern Philippines. This writer had read and seen pictures of this mosque, but its grandeur is better appreciated with your own eyes. Bolkiah Mosque is a grand Islamic architecture by a Catholic university alumni.
