Votes trickle in at Maguindanao

posted by Neil on May 9, 2016

Polling stations in some areas in Maguindanao opened smoothly at 6:00 am today. Minutes later, a Vote Counting Machine (VCM) in one precinct rejected a ballot fed by a woman. ‘Too bad my only vote went to waste,” according to her.  In other precincts, two VCMs  overheated and delayed the feeding of ballots into the machine. In almost all the precincts, no holding area is visible contrary to the mandate of the Commission on Elections. Pregnant women, elderly, and PWDs have to endure the physical discomfort brought about by the limited space inside the polling station.  It was noticeable that most of the Board of Election Inspector members are women.
